A Cathedral of Shadows is an ongoing series of portraits of people who are important to both me and Meg; it is a love letter to an industry that has taken care of us throughout the years—celebrating the wins, embracing the challenges, and functioning as a sanctuary at low points.
What started as a single portrait in an unconscious search for healing has slowly turned into a space of light. A blanket of safety that serves as a dance for something necessary for those present.
Bronija Ales was one of our very first subjects for this series—a stranger to the Philippines who graced us with her company. Over time, she became one of the key collaborators that made us evolve our individual crafts.
Ring of Fire is an editorial in Vogue Philippines’ May 2024 issue that started as a personal test shoot. It is a visual story that embraces beauty without makeup.

Artu Nepomuceno is a fashion, portrait, and advertising photographer based in the Philippines. He has cemented his name in the industry by working with top magazines, as well as having a strong relationship with many of the big brands of the country. One of his most notable images to date is that of Vogue Philippines’ 2023 Beauty issue, featuring Apo Whang-Od, the oldest tattoo artist of the Philippines.
It is his work as documentarian for international NGO Waves for Water that drives his passion for the craft. Traveling to many remote places around the world, Artu has aided in telling the stories of communities that need access to clean drinking water.
Currently Artu is exploring the space of art through his photography, starting with his ongoing series Cathedral of Shadows. This project with his wife, Meg Manzano, made its maiden flight in the 2024 Philippine Art Fair, housed by the gallery Art Agenda. The couple plan on continuing the series and hope to exhibit the images all around the world and eventually produce a book.
